Marcella Ochs Poland Class of 1956Marcella L. Poland, 78, of Dundas, passed away on March 1, 2016 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown with burial in Stringtown church cemetery.

Marcella was born November 30, 1937 in Olney, IL to parents, Boniface and Bernice (Roth) Ochs. She married Dewey Carrell Poland, Sr on July 21, 1958 in Stringtown, IL. He precedes her in death.

Marcella was passionate about her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the oldest child of a large family. She raised animals and cattle on her farm. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Marcella took pleasure in being in the outdoors; working with flowers, watching and feeding birds. She collected clocks. In her younger years, Dewey and she enjoyed riding motorcycles. Marcella was a devout Catholic and was a resource to those with troubled faith. The values which she lived by were demonstrated to those around her through her volunteering: Salvation Army, Hospice, Adult Literacy Program, and Big Brother/Big Sisters. Anyone who spoke with her walked away with a positive outlook on life and filled with inspiration. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown.

She is survived by daughters, Cynthia O'Dell and husband Jeff of Wendelin, Juanita Kramer and fiancee Lloyd Winter of Olney, Candace Wisner and husband Darrell of Coatesville, IN, Regina Hamilton of Danville, IL, Bernetta Hartman and husband Elden of Indianapolis, IN, Joyce Hostettler and husband Theron of Ingraham, IL; son, Dewey Poland Jr.; step-sons, Jerry Poland and Rod Poland; 23 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren.

Marcella was preceded in death by parents, husband, grandson Nathan Hostettler, grandson Hank Hamilton, and five unborn great grandchildren.
