Patricia A. Van Matre, 84, of Olney, Illinois, passed away January 29, 2022 at Richland Memorial Hospital. Pat was born December 10, 1937 in Jasper County, Ilinois, the daughter of Samuel E. and Capitola F. (McCormack) Barnes. She married Frank R. Van Matre on June 2, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olney, and he survives.

Pat lived a happy and full life, married to her high school sweetheart, Frank, for sixty-four years. She attended the University of Illinois before her marriage and was a proud supporter of The U of I Fighting Illini. She spent many years at Richland Memorial Hospital as a medical laboratory technician. Pat was very social and enjoyed traveling, her favorite trips included the Holy Land and Egypt, England, Scotland, Ireland and a cruise through the Panama Canal. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren, of whom she was especially proud. Pat had a strong faith and took great joy in being a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olney.

Pat is survived by husband of 64 years, Frank R. Van Matre of Olney; daughter, Cyndee Berger and husband Chris of Chatham, Illinois; son, David Van Matre of Tacoma, Washington; son, Jeffrey Van Matre and wife Marie of Munster, Indiana; grandchildren, Elizabeth Berger, Mary Kate Berger, Miles Van Matre, and Maureen Van Matre; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Olney.

Interment will take place on at Haven Hill.
