Vera L. Shaw, 76, of Olney, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997 at Richland Memorial Hospital.   Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park, east of Olney.

Shaw was born May 15, 1920 in Richland County, the daughter of Chester and Violet (Monts) Scherer. She married Howard R. Shaw July 11, 1948 in Olney. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1984.

She taught school for 23 years in the East Richland School District and was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney, the Richland County Historical Society and the Audubon Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Werling and her husband, Michael of Olney and Suzanne Kiser and her husband, James of Sumner; one brother, Russell Scherer of Sumner; three grandchildren, Michele Reynolds and her husband, Richard and Mark and Amy Kiser; one great-grandson, Bobby Reynolds; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
