Bob Whittington (Science And Agriculture 1964-1989)

Bobby Leroy Whittington, 79, of Olney passed away on December 13, 2014 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Bob was born March 17, 1935 in Thompsonville, IL to parents Robert E. and Elva Ann (Bozarth). He married Carol Milligan on July 9, 1960 in New Jersey, she precedes him in his death.

Bob was an agricultural teacher at ERHS from 1963 to 1990. He was an FFA Advisor and spent many years at the county fair.

Bob was a deacon at Olney Southern Baptist Church and was very active in the church. He was also a missionary and traveled to several countries including Africa, Guatemala, and Mexico. He returned to Africa in the fall of 2012 for three months.

Bob was involved with the Kiwanis and several other local organizations and clubs. Most recently he was involved with the Silver Sneakers Exercise Group.

Bob was a very social person and enjoyed the company of others and was well known in the community. He will be missed by all those that knew him.

He is survived by daughters, Sandy Heckwine and husband Shane of LaHarpe, IL, and Susan Walton and husband Tony of Canton, IL;  grandchildren, Heather Schmitz and husband Tod, Shane Pinkston, Seth Pinkston, Wesley Marvel, and Andrew Marvel; special friend, Jackie Doser; Brothers, Jim Whittington and wife Sherry and Chuck Whittington and wife Sharon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Stephen L. Kocher (1968)

   My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. He was my teacher the first 2 years of high school. I was was not a great agriculture student but I liked Mr. Whittington. He was a good person. Steve Kocher

Tom Everette (1965)

As a practical extension of my typing class, I worked for a brief period for Mr. Whittington in the Ag department.  As with all others who knew him, I remember him most for his serene countenance and understanding way.

David Shafer (1969)

Bob was a great person that I had the pleasure of teaching with for many years at ERHS.
