Mildred R. Richardson, 72, of Olney, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at her residence.
Richardson was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Terre Haute, Ind., the daughter of Arthur Leland and Nanna (Stuart) Chestnut.
She married Bobby Joe Richardson Dec. 6, 1947. He preceded her in death April 27, 1992.
She was a retired English and journalism teacher for the East Richland School District for more than 40 years.
She is survived by one son, Bradley Joe Richardson, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Jan Richardson, of Lees Summit, Mo., Joan Richardson, of Grantville, Ga., and Sandra Richardson, of West Palm Beach Fla.: two brothers, Stuart Chestnut, of California, and Arthur Chestnut, of Terre Haute, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Marguerite Chestnut.

Mrs. Richardson was my favorite English teacher. I took her English and journalism classes. She was very fair minded and was open to discussions that most teachers didn't have the patience to hear.

"Millie" as we affectionately called her, was one of my favorite teachers. I had her for journalism. She impacted my life as a teenager.

Mrs. Richardson was my favorite teacher. She gave me encouragement and helped me to see capabilities my capabilities when I could not. Her love of great literature has had a lasting impression on me.
