Helen Virginia Harshman, 78, of Olney died Wednesday December 31, 1997 at her residence.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Bruce Rushing officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Harshman was born March 2, 1919 in Richland County, the daughter of Glen and Clara (Schonert) Roney. She married Paul Harshman June 23, 1946.

She was a retired school teacher in Richland County and taught at Amity and Calhoun. She also worked at Olney Trust Bank with her husband in maintenance and served on the local election board. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Larry Harshman and his wife, Linda of Mt. Carmel; one brother, Charles F. Roney of Centralia; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
