Doris Pflaum (Guerin)

Doris L. Pflaum Guerin, 84, of Washington, Illinois died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Noble to Clarence and Grace Gray Pflaum.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sandvik of Washington and Grace (and Ty) Tongate of Morton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She served in the Army Nurses Corps as a first lieutenant during World War II and the Korean War. She graduated from OSF Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She worked for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, until retiring in 1982 as a head nurse of the Psychiatric Unit. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Peoria.

Private graveside services held at Glendale Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
