A Brush, Colorado woman was killed last Thursday evening, April 21, 2011 in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 34 at the west edge of Brush.  Morgan County Coroner, Don Heer pronounced Helen "Taddy" Swinson, 88, dead at the scene of the 8:18 p.m. crash.

Helen (Taddy) Swinson was born June 22, 1922, in Olney, the daughter of W.D. and Helen (Weber) Miller. She died April 21, 2011.

She married Glenn Swinson on September 22, 1941, in Olney. She and her family were transferred to Brush, Colorado, in 1955.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to all. Her family and friends were the most important part of her life. She enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, poetry and doing volunteer work. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She had been a member of the Red Cross for 27 years and she and her husband had been drivers for Meals and Friendship since the start of the program.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Patrick; great-grandson, Waylon; and her brother, Wid Miller.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Glenn; six children, Mike (Carol) Swinson, Kathy (Tom) Latham, Tom (Gail) Swinson, Joe Swinson, Nancy (John) Samples, and Jean (Dennis) Bostron; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She also has two brothers, Dr. Gilbert Miller and Dr. Jim Miller.
