Robert Forsyth

Robert B. Forsyth, 72, of Morton, formerly of Olney died Tuesday October 19, 1993 at Pekin Hospital.

Graveside services at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with the Rev. Burl Shinkle officiating. Full military rites conducted at graveside.

Mr. Forsyth was born November 24, 1920 in Wheaton, the son of Lamont and Jessie (Torrens) Forsyth. He married Virginia W. Schneiter on December 31, 1946 in Olney.

Mr. Forsyth owned and operated Forsyth Lumber and Coal Company in Olney for 15 years before moving to Morton in 1966. He then worked for Mathis Lumber Company in Morton. He worked for Affiliated Home Center after Mathis Lumber was sold. He retired in 1988. He worked part-time at Wayman's True Value Hardware. Mr. Forsyth was a member of Morton Masonic Lodge #352 A.F. & A.M. He was a lieutenant in the Merchant Marine during World War II.

Mr. Forsyth is survived by his wife, Virginia Forsyth of Morton; two sons, Stephen B. Forsyth of Louisville, Ky. and Robert C. Forsyth of Columbus, Miss.; two daughters, Jody Forsyth-Verplaetse of Greencastle, Ind. and Amy Forsyth-Stephens of Blacksburg, Va.; one brother, Lamont Forsyth of Olney; two sisters, Alice Lindstrom and Joy Davison both of DeKalb; and five grandchildren.
