Paul Buss

Paul E. Buss Sr., 75, of Olney died Friday, April 24, 1998 at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Burial in Saron Cemetery with full military rites at graveside.

Buss was born July 2, 1922 in German Township, Richland County, the son of Herman and Freda (Sterchi) Buss. He married Mary E. Payne December 16, 1942 at Saron United Church of Christ Parsonage in Richland County.

He was a WW II veteran and served with the 34th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He was a tail gunner in the B-17 Flying Fortress, completing 32 combat missions over Germany. He was a life-long farmer in Richland County. He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ. He served on the East Richland School Board from 1955-1971 serving as president a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, of Olney; two sons, Paul E. Buss Jr. and his wife, Della of Homedale, Idaho and Walter Buss and his wife, Anita of Olney; three daughters, Alice K. Stanley and her husband, Dr. Robert of Fort Myers, Fla., Linda S. Mott and her husband, Dr. Dan of Springfield, and Mary Ann Evans and her husband, Dr. John of Parker, Colo.; one sister, Ruth Sayre and her husband, Robert of Olney; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
