Olney Man Killed

One man was killed, but his two passengers escaped injury, when his car overturned early Thursday on Radio Tower Road.

Dead is Terry Lee Worlow, 41, of Olney, who was westbound about two miles southeast of Olney when he lost control of his car about 12:40 a.m.

The vehicle overturned once, coming to rest on its wheels, according to Richland County Coroner, Susan Landis Bromm.

Passengers, Larry E. Mason, 43 of rural Olney and Roger D. Duncan, 26 of Calhoun escaped injury. None of the three was wearing a seat belt.

Bromm said Worlow suffered head and chest injuries from impact with his car’s steering wheel and the interior of the vehicle.

She said the men had been out in the country checking on an oil rig that was part of Worlow’s business interests.

Terry Lee Worlow, 41, Olney, died as a result of an auto accident occurring at 12:40 a.m.Thursday, Aug 11, 1988.

Mr. Worlow was born Feb 5, 1947 in Olney, to Dale and Betty (Pratt) Worlow. He married Sheryl Sue Piper on Aug 22, 1970 and she survives.

Mr. Worlow was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olney, and was owner and operator of Worlow's Antiques and Worlow Oil Production.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Shawn, at home; a daughter, Shelly, Las Vegas, NV; a brother, John, Dundas; his parents, Dale and Betty Worlow of Olney; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Linda.
