Gregory D. Sechrest, age 75, passed away quietly and peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 9:25 p.m. He was cared for by his long-term friend, Elizabeth Farrar, during a battle with cancer.

Greg was born on April 24, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois, to parents Clyde and Elizabeth Sechrest. Elizabeth later married Clifford Easton, and Greg maintained a close relationship with him up until his death in 2017.

Greg served in the Vietnam War and returned to Fairfield, Illinois, where he made his home for a number of years. He worked in the oil fields much of his life and enjoyed working on muscle cars. Later in life, he relocated to Olney where he spent much of his time with family and working outdoors.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Nichele Hawbaker and husband, Brad, of Blue Mound, IL; one sister, Judy Doan and husband, John, of Olney, IL; and two grandsons, Dylan and Ashton Hawbaker.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth (Betty) and Clifford Easton and father, Clyde Sechrest.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont, Illinois.
