Richard Nelson, age 66 of Kitzingen, Germany passed away on April 20, 2014 in Wurzburg, Germany.
He was the son of the late Clint and Lyle Nelson. He graduated from ERHS with the class of 1965. He obtained his BS degree in 1969 from Southern Illinois University. He worked as a chemist with Dow Chemical Corp in Midland, Michigan where he met his first wife Heidi Smith who passed away in 2000. He then went to work for Nashua Corp where he worked until retiring in 2008. While on a bike tour in Europe he met Marie-Luise Tischler whom he married in 2007. After retiring he moved to Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Marie-Luise Nelson; a daughter Melanie Nelson of Bend, Oregon; a brother Ronald Nelson of Seymour, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and a sister-in-law Sue Nelson.

I'm shocked and saddened to get notice of Rick's death. Rick was a good friend in high school, attended my wedding in 1985 and we've been in touch through the years. He moved to Germany several years ago and seemed to be happy there. My deepest sympathies to his wife and daughter.
