Allen Hagen - Class Of 1965

Allen Hagen

Allen Dee Hagen, age 75 of Monticello, MN passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He was born March 30, 1947 in Slayton, MN, the son of Paul and Geraldine (Martin) Hagen.

Allen grew up in Olney, Il graduating from East Richland High School with the class of 1965. Here was where he began his career as a bricklayer, following in his dad’s footsteps. Allen and Glenda started and raised their family in Bolingbrook, Il where he continued his masonry career for 50+ years, taking pride in the numerous structures he helped build. Allen was a faithful member and a Stephen Minister for many years at New Life Lutheran Church while living in Bolingbrook. After retiring, Allen and Glenda returned to Olney and kept busy with his two dogs Abby and Molly. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards, talking guns and vintage cars with friends and spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, Glenda.

Allen had a gentle and good-natured personality about himself that reflected on to others. He was often described as being so nice, and easy to talk to, making friends with those he had the opportunity to meet. His generosity and love for others will greatly be missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Kay Hagen; son, Michael Allen Hagen; parents, Paul and Geraldine Hagen; and parents-in-law, Wallace “Governor” and Donna Dunkin.

Allen is survived by his son, Mark Hagen (Tracy) and their children Tommy (Nicky), Riley, Laurynne, Andrew; daughter, Andrea Mialkowski (Eric) and their children Kyle, Lauren; siblings, Paula Duncan, Sheila Muehling, Stephanie Edwards (Bill), Teresa Lippa (the late, Bill), Vickie Lindberg (John), Jeff Hagen, Rick Hagen, Tony Hagen (Dina); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society in memory of Allen’s greatest love, Glenda.

A celebration of life for Allen will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a time of sharing at 3:00 PM, at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello, MN. An additional celebration is also being planned in Olney, Il with the date to be determined.

I don't think Allen and I ever met, but I got to know him as a supporter of Tiger Pride Alumni Association. He was a regular donor to our annual scholarship drive. May his family be comforted by many memories.
