Archie Wyatt - Class Of 1979

Archie Wyatt

Louis "Archie" Wyatt, Jr., 53, of rural Mulberry, Kansas died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at his business north of Pittsburg.

Mr. Wyatt was born Oct. 26, 1960, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Louis Archie Wyatt Sr. and Mary Ellen Radford. He was the second child of their union. He married Lois (Dink) Gwilt on July 7, 1995 in Olney where they joined their two families to include: James, Courtney and Adam. He was the owner of the Royal Inn Motel and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney. He was attending The Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg. In 1999 they moved the family from Illinois to the family farm in Mulberry.

He and his wife, Dink, became owners of the "Dink's Red Barn" in Pittsburg. With Archie's gift of gab, he did well as the consummate salesman, selling a variety of different product lines, most recently consignment items and outdoor buildings. He was also known by several young folks as a role model and teller of stories. And if no new stories were found, he could always put a smile on your face with his latest corny jokes. A relaxing day for Archie was for he and Dink to hop on their motorcycle and see all the wonderful sights.

Archie's most abundant joy was his love for the outdoors. He and his father, Doc, shared many hunting trips throughout the years that included deer, elk, and bear among other prey. He enjoyed teaching his sons, James and Adam, the finesse of the hunt and fishing, and the patience and vigiliance of being a safe, successful hunter. He also took pride in the fact that in 2010 he completed his high school education by completing his GED and earning his diploma. Archie also bragged of his creative and talented daughter, Courtney, of her artistic flare and her musically talented gifts, mentioning she must have gotten those gifts from him. If you were to ask Archie about his greatest accomplishment in life he would proudly tell you it was his family. He was so proud of each and every one of them. Most recently he became a Grandpa to Wade Lee Neff and soon to be to Hudson Matthews. We all knew Archie was a loving Spouse, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother and Friend and was never shy about telling them that he loved them.

Archie is survived by his wife, Dink, of 19 years, his father, Louis "Doc" Wyatt, and special friend Kaie Potter of Olney, Illinois; his son, James Archie Wyatt of Gillette, Wyoming, his daughter, Courtney Lynn Wyatt and fiancee Madison Matthews of Lafayette, Louisianna, son Adam Neff and partner Samantha Martin, and sisters Terri Volk and family of Olney, Illinois as well as Diane Prettyman and family, also of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents and his Mother, Mary Ellen Radford Wyatt, originally from Mulberry. He left us too soon, but his memory will live on through his many loved ones.

Memorial services at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating. Archie will be cremated following the services with burial of the cremains at a later date.
