Michael Joe Walker, 39, of Effingham, formerly of Olney died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2000 at his residence in Effingham due to an apparent suicide.
Mike was born February 4, 1961 the son of Emery Joe Walker and Jean Brooks Walker.
Memorial services were held in Olney at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney, with Rev. Larry Weber from Elm Street Christian Church officiating. Stasi-Grove Funeral Home in Olney in charge of arrangements.
Mike is survived by his father, Emery “Joe” Walker and stepmother, Shirley Walker of Palestine, and his mother, Jean Westall and stepfather, Don Westall of Olney.

Unfortunately, Mike had many serious family issues throughout his life, that even most of his close friends were not aware of. I think the problems and heartaches kept building upon each other over the years, to a point where he had enough. He was a good and compassionate person. I hope he is at peace now.
