Brian R. Powden, 64, of Olney, passed away on Sunday December 3, 2023 at his home. Brian was born on July 30, 1959 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Bob and Mary Lucille (Patterson) Powden. He married Nora (Kidwell) on July 26, 2008 in Noble, Illinois, and she survives.

Brian worked as a meat manager for many years, starting at Red and White when he was 12 years old and finishing his career at Sav-A-Lot. As a kid he used his paycheck to buy a guitar and guitar lessons. He played guitar since he was young and played in the band, Fly by Night. Brian enjoyed fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Brian also loved his dogs, Snickers and Chrissy.

Brian is survived by his wife, Nora Powden; daughters, Brandie (Patrick) Roedl of Effingham, IL and Nicole (Chris Steury) Powden of Olney; son, Craig (Ashley) Powden of Olney; son, David (Shila) Heeter of Valdosta, GA; daughter, Nicki (Steven) Burgess of Mt. Vernon, IL; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Nick) Hoover, Levi Steury, Nathan Decher, Blain Fryman, Blake Roedl, Gage Steury, Jacob Roedl, Draven Powden, Maestro Fear, Chasity Heeter, Bobby Burgess, Gavin Heeter, and Alex Heeter; great grandchildren, Alayah Hoover and Karsyn Brown; brothers, Lance (Donna) Powden and Steve Powden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scottie Powden.

A memorial service will be held for Brian at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana at a later date.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for children.
