Former Olney Men Killed

Two former Olney residents died Wednesday morning following an accident in Morgan City, Louisiana.

According to Morgan City police, Darvin W. York, 28 of Gibson, Louisiana and William C. Marlowe, 26 of Amelia, Louisiana died shortly after midnight in Lakewood Hospital in Morgan City.

Police said the accident occurred about 11 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 90. The car in which the two were riding was headed east when it went out of control on an overpass, crossed the center line and struck a truck in the westbound lane.

A third person in the car was dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

The driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries.

Darvin Wynn York, 29, Gibson, Louisiana and formerly of Olney died Tuesday January 13, 1987 in Morgan City, Louisiana.

Services in Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Baker presiding. Burial in Crest Haven Cemetery.

Mr. York was born July 7, 1957 in Olney, the son of Hubert Claude and Mabel (King) York. He married Laura Stovall. He was a steel mill worker.

Survivors include two sons, Gary York, Newton; Darvin Wynn York, Jr., at home; a daughter, Jaci Chanel York, at home; three brothers, Robert E. York, Patoka, Ind.; Thomas C. York, Olney; Derek L. York, Noble; and his mother, Mabel York, Olney.

He was preceded in death by his father.
