Melvin N. Stevens, 68, of Effingham and formerly of Parkersburg, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Melvin was born June 29, 1951, the son of Earl and Ruth (Knackmuhs) Stevens. He was the youngest of five sons born to this union. He was best known as “Shug” in his hometown of Parkersburg.

Melvin is survived by his brothers, Robert (Lynn) Stevens and Monte (Jane) Stevens, both of Parkersburg; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; one aunt and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy, parents and brothers, Gilbert and Gerald.
