Layton Delzell

Loren "Layton" Delzell II, 68 of Charleston, Illinois passed away on Sunday April 3, 2022 at his home. Layton was born on August 16, 1953 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Loren Layton Delzell and Betty (Rector).

Layton was an East Richland High School graduate.  After high school, he attended Fairfield Community College and graduated with honors from Greenville College with a bachelor’s degree. He worked as a land surveyor for 30 years in the area. Layton was an excellent self-taught guitarist, and he had a collection of vintage guitars, of which he was extremely proud. He was also extremely proud of his children and his grandchildren. Layton was very proud of the achievements he made during his sobriety, and he was very active in his AA Community in Charleston, Illinois. Layton will be missed dearly by all those that knew and loved him.

Layton is survived by his son, Sean Delzell and his fiancé Britteney Arview of Flora, IL; daughter, Molly Delzell of Xenia, IL; son, Jason (Missy) Cantrell of Noble; son, Jesse (Jessie) Cantrell of Noble; Grandchildren, Liam Delzell of Flora, Lillian Delzell of Xenia, Sierra, Kayden, and Cameron Cantrell of Noble; Sisters, Jana (Richard) Dehner of Olney and Cara Stanley of Noble; Several nieces and nephews; Special friends, Helen Delzell and Harold Groff. He was preceded in death by his parents and a close friend, Sally Stadge.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held for Layton at a later date. Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is assisting the family with arrangements.
