Dixie McVaigh (Donohue)

Dixie Rae (McVaigh) Donohue, 68, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

She was born Jan. 20, 1951, in La Porte, IN, daughter of the late Gerald A. McVaigh and Anna Lou (Orrel) McVaigh.

She lived in Bloomington-Normal, IL, for 46 years before she and her husband retired and purchased a home in Florida for the winter and a home in Tennessee for the summer. She was the owner of the Travel Travel travel agency in Normal, IL, for 32 years. She loved her work and felt privileged to do travel arrangements for her clients. Golf, pickleball, painting, kayaking and going to the beach were some of the activities she enjoyed during retirement.

Faith played an important role in her life. She brought a smile to all of those around her, and she was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Robert Donohue of Fairfield Glade; daughter, Christa Blemler (Robert) of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Jackson Blemler, age 17, and Lauryn Blemler, age 13; brother, Jerry McVaigh of West Salem, IL; and sister, Sue Lynn Freson of Newburgh, IN. Dixie is preceded in death by her parents.

According to her wishes, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project, two charities she was proud to support.
