Sam L. Amerman, age 72 of Salem, Illinois, passed away on February 16, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Sam was born on March 9, 1950 in Olney, IL the son of Samuel G. and Elsie (Brummett) Amerman. He married Dolores (Fehrenbacher) Amerman on May 31, 1969 and she survives in Salem.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Samuel D. Amerman of Kirksville, MO and Lori R. Amerman and Steven Gold of Pittsburg, IL; grandsons, Samuel Jacob Amerman and Benjamin David Amerman, both of Kirksville, MO; siblings, Phillis Roepke and husband Gary of Golconda, and Gerald John Amerman of Albion; mother-in-law, Margaret Fehrenbacher of Olney; sisters-in-law, Karen Scherer and husband Jim of Olney, and Joyce Leist of Olney; brother-in-law, John Fehrenbacher of Olney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Savern “Steve” Fehrenbacher; brothers-in-law, Jim Fehrenbacher and wife Sandi and Mike Greenwood.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
