Michael E. Gaede

Michael E. Gaede, Sr., 73, of Effingham, formerly of Olney, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael was born on October 17, 1949 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Oliver "Gene" and Patricia E. (Hudson) Gaede. He married Carolyn Sue (Payne) on December 19, 1987, and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2005. Mike later married Sandra Hough (Rosborough) on June 29, 2007 at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney, and she survives.

Mike was a social person who enjoyed being around his friends and especially his family. He never met a stranger and treated everyone with a great deal of respect. Mike was a hard worker and would be willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He was a member of the American Legion, the Auxiliary at the VFW, and the Olney Elks. He was also a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. Mike's kindness and generosity will be missed by all those that knew him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sandy; Son, Michael Gaede, Jr.; Daughter, Kim (Will) Kinsey; Daughter, Mandy (Chris) Swinson; Step-daughter, Sonja (Matt) Music; Step-daughter, Sherry (Tim) Hoehn; Step-son, Spencer (Seth) Rosborough; Step-daughter, Sherri (Jim) Wilson Step-daughter, Traci Turner; Step-son, Mike Easton; Step-father, Robert Sayre; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; Sister, Angie Cordell, Sally (Lonnie) Wilson, Susan (Bob Orlandini) Duncan, Diana (Rudy) Vessup, and Sherrie (Gary) Lanyon; Aunt, Marian Eagleson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Carolyn and his brother, Larry Gaede.

A funeral service will be held for Mike at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation for family and friends beginning two hours before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
