Motorcycles Ram Pickup, Killing Two Dundas Men

Greenup – Two Dundas men were killed at 2:06 a.m. Thursday morning (June 18, 1981) when their motorcycles ran into the side of a pickup truck on Illinois 130, two miles south of Greenup.

According to Illinois State Police, Robert Martin, 34, of Greenup drove his pickup onto the highway from a country road. Motorcycles driven by Russell E. Sterchi, 31 and Dennis Wilson, 24 both of Dundas, hit the side of the vehicle, killing the drivers.

Martin was treated at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham. He was ticketed for failure to yield the right-of-way while turning left.

Dennis R. Wilson, 23, died June 18, 1981.  He  was born in Olney July 28, 1957 to Dorris and Lenora Fulk Wilson.

He was employed by Baker Tools in Olney and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Christian Church.

He is survived by his mother, a sister, Diana Spieth; and two nephews.

His father preceded him in death in 1972.

Funeral services were held in the Summers Funeral Home with burial in the Dundas Cemetery.
