Carleen Kocher (Carlson)

Carleen Fay (Kocher) Carlson, age 66 was born to Omer and Anna Kocher on April 3, 1956. She passed from this life to be with The Lord on September 2, 2022 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Carleen attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Stringtown, Illinois through 8th grade. She graduated from East Richland High School in 1974.  After graduating she helped her sister, Marvenne baby-sit for a couple of years. In July of 1976 she started a career working in the Laundry Department at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. A career that lasted 46 years. While working there in 1980, she met the young man she would eventually marry. On June 17, 1983 she married the love of her life, Dan Carlson. They had 2 children, a daughter Courtney and a son Logan.

Carleen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a personality that made people love her. She was very witty and would always have a good response to anyone who would pick on her. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, read books and cross-stitch. Carleen was an active member of The Christian Church of Sumner, where she helped her husband in ministry to the congregation.

Carleen is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, daughter Courtney Carlson of Olney IL, son Logan and wife Madison and granddaughter Lillian Carlson of Mattoon, IL. Brothers; Don (Gertrude) Kocher, Keith (Linda) Kocher and Darius (Amber) Kocher all of Claremont IL. Sisters; Marvenne Wheat of Olney, IL. Angie (Henry) Klingler of Clay City, IL. Elaine Morlan of Albuquerque, NM. Yvonne (Ron) Schneider of Dundas, IL. Sisters-in-law; Carolyn Kocher of Sumner IL. Mary Kocher of Olney, IL. Naomi Nash of Albion, IL. Becky (Don) Dean of Parkersburg, IL. Brothers-in-law: Steve (Denise) Carlson of Holt MI. Tim (Patty) Carlson of OH. Phil Carlson of Olney, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers, Hilary (Lary) and Delmar (Del) Kocher and Brothers in-law Dewey Wheat, David Carlson and Dewey Nash.

A funeral service held at the funeral home. Interment at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.
