Barbara Ann Scherer, 54, a resident of Laurel, Maryland since 1989, died Jan. 20, 2009 at Laurel Regional Hospital.

Born Feb. 1, 1954 in Olney, Ill., she was the daughter of Mary L. (Drewes) Wright and the late Donald W. "Jeff" Wright.

She graduated in the class of 1972 from East Richland High School in Olney, Ill. A member of St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, she was an administrative assistant for Pallotti High School's sports department for several years.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by grandparents, aunts and uncles.

In addition to her mother, of Olney, Ill., Mrs. Scherer is survived by her husband whom she married in 1976, Scott Keith Scherer, of Laurel; daughter Jennifer Scherer, of Laurel; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Katy Scherer, of Sykesville; grandsons Logan and Joshua Scherer, of Sykesville; sister Nancy Gady, of Urbana, Ill.; brother Mike Wright, of Cobden, Ill.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; father-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, with Monsignor Mike Wilson and the Rev. Kevin O'Reilly officiating. Burial at Mount View Cemetery in Marriottsville.
