Winifred "Winnie" Howard, 84, of West Salem, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Burial in Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.

Mrs. Howard was born on January 6, 1925, in Richland County, the daughter of Otis and Ruth (Lynch) Walden. She married Donald K. Howard on April 8, 1951, in Edwards County. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2007.

She was a member of Moravian Church in West Salem. She retired from 1st State Bank in West Salem, where she worked as a bank teller for several years. She enjoyed being a homemaker.

Mrs. Howard is survived by two daughters, Donna Livingston and her husband, Jim, of Oblong, and Linda Tinckham and her husband, Neil, of Albion; one son, Ed Howard and his wife, Judy, of Bone Gap; four grandchildren, Bill Bailey, Brandie Billingsley, Erica Kelsey and Michael Livingston; four great-grandchildren, Lidia, Jaxon, Taylor and Rilee Kelsey; and two brothers, Leslie Walden and his wife, Naoma, of Olney, and William Walden and his wife, Ruby, of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Howard.
