Everett Richey

Dr. Everett E. Richey, 83, of California passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in California. He was born November 1, 1923 in Claremont, Illinois a son of Hugh A. and Elosia E.(Longnecker) Richey.

Everett's High School yearbook printed Everett's life goal was to go into the ministry. He graduated from Olney High School in Illinois in 1942. He attended Anderson University in Indiana, where he married his wife Mary on Easter Sunday 1944. Everett graduated from Anderson University in 1944.

Everett served in the clergy as a pastor at several churches in Michigan, Indiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas between the years of 1944 and 1952. He obtained a Masters' degree from Anderson Seminary in Indiana in 1956 and a Doctorate Degree at Iliff University in Denver, CO in 1960.  Everett became a professor at Arlington College in Long Beach in 1961, where he also served as minister of the Cherry Ave. Church of God in Long Beach. With the merger of Arlington College with Azusa Pacific University in 1968, Everett moved his family to Glendora.  He continued as professor at Azusa Pacific University until his retirement in 1993.

It was during his retirement that he struggled with Parkinson's disease. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Eldon; daughter, Loretta and son, Charles; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and sister, Carolyn Hough.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clive in 1999; sister, Opal A. Petty; brothers, Alvin A. Richey, Harold H. Richey and Herbert M. Richey.
