Margaret Marie Menees (Thompson)

Margaret Marie Thompson, age 91 years, went to be with her Savior on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Sandrock Ridge Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on March 18, 1924 in Omaha Nebraska to Clarence and Inez Menees. She was the first of three children.

Margaret moved to Craig 
in 1954 from Illinois. Over the years she made many contributions in the community through service activities. She was an active and lifetime member in the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars for 54 years as well as Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for 40 plus years. Margaret served on the Cancer Board for 25 plus years. She was a member of the Craig Chamber of Commerce and also volunteered for blood drives throughout the area as well as various other organizations. She was the “Woman of the Year” in 2005 at the age of 81. She was always there when needed.

Margaret worked many years as manager of the Marj Marr Shop. She was a seamstress for the Golden Rule Store, and Lloyd Cleaners as well as many individuals in and outside of Moffat County. Besides sewing, she loved to quilt, knit, crochet, and embroidery. She loved playing cards and games, weekly with friends in her home, going on trips and scenic drives. She was loved by many friends she made through the years.

Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters Billie Sue Darr of Yellville, AR; Marilee Bell (Russell) of Gillette, WY and sons Jimmy Miller (Sue) of Springs, TX; Jerry Miller (JoAnn) of Grand Junction, CO; and Chuck Thompson of Craig. She had nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Thompson (Helen) of Aurora, CO and many, many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nina Lee Andres, a brother, husband Charles C Thompson, ex-husband Billy E. Miller and one grandson, Charles Leonard Thompson.

A memorial service held at the Grant Mortuary Chapel with burial at Craig Cemetery.
