Frances Opal (Byrd) Flanders Brown, 82, of Napa, California, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Meadows of Napa. Born June 11, 1925 in Bridgeport, Illinois, daughter of Leo A. and Helen (Willard) Byrd, Sr., she moved to Olney, Illinois at the age of 13, where she graduated from high school.

She was a resident of Napa since 1956.

Frances, better known as Fran, retired after 24 years of employment in the banking industry. During that time, she was active in many community activities and organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce and Soroptimist International of Napa where she held life-membership.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Brownie; two daughters by a previous marriage, Sandra Kaye Flanders of Napa and Debra Raye Flanders of Fresno, one son, Troy Mark Brown of Prior Lake, MN; three grandsons; three great grandchildren and two brothers, Harold W. Byrd and Leo A. Byrd, Jr.

A private service held honoring her life. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
