John A. Burgener, 79, of Olney, died August 16, 2002 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Burial with full military rites in Haven Hill Memorial Garden, Olney.

Mr. Burgener was born on August 12, 1923 in Crawford County, the son of Albert John and Viola (Swinger) Burgener. He married Mary Alice Harmon. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1990.

He retired after 30 years as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney, American Legion, 40 & 8 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II Army veteran. He graduated from Olney Township High School.

Mr. Burgener is survived by his son, Al Burgener and his wife, Joianne of Claremont; a daughter, Roma Conour of Newton; special friend, Marilyn Walker of Olney; a sister, Eva Taylor of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
