Marcia Kay (Stevens) Hoagland, 67, passed away on March 18, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Marcia was born on October 4, 1955 in Olney, IL a daughter of Lloyd and Anna Pauline (Pampe) Stevens. Marcia married Dennis Hoagland at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney on November 27, 1985.

Marcia was a dedicated educator all of her career. She began her career teaching special education in Bridgeport and Mt. Carmel, IL schools. In Mt. Carmel, her career moved from the classroom to becoming a guidance counselor. She moved to the Bethalto area in 2002 and continued as a high school guidance counselor in Roxana schools until her retirement in 2014.

Marcia’s passions in life were traveling, spending time with her family and friends, her dog Hoage, ice cream, and most of all her grandkids, who were the 3 lights of her life.

Marcia is survived by husband, Dennis Hoagland; step-daughters, Brittany McCormick and Ashley Broom and husband Matthew; sister, Nancy Wallace and husband Bob, sister, Patricia "Trish" Stemmley and husband Jay, twin brother, Mark Stevens, sister, Jeanne Dunahee and husband Jeff, grandchildren, Katie McCormick, Jackson Broom, and Aidan Broom; and nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Anna Pauline Stevens, brother, Phil Stevens, Mother-in-law, Marion Hoagland, and son-in-law, Patrick McCormick.

There will be a Private Family Graveside service at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
