James Dennis Harmon

James Dennis Harmon, 68 of Cleveland, Tennessee, died January 26, 2024. Dennis was born November 10, 1955 in Olney, Illinois. He graduated from East Richland High School in 1973, then RETS electronics school in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dennis started his career at Daughtery Maintenance in Olney, IL and Pemco Service Company in Bloomington, IL. For the last 25 years he worked as Lead Technician at First Choice Services in Chattanooga, TN. Dennis was the first Technician hired and trained several other Techs. He attended training schools for Gilbarco Dispensing Systems, Red Jacket, and Veeder-Root schools among numerous others to further his expertise. He held Serviceman licenses in Tennessee and Alabama. He was well-respected among co-workers and customers alike. He was always available by phone to share knowledge or for any questions a co-worker may have.

Dennis married Sissy Barche in Olney, Illinois in 1976 and had one son, James Patrick Harmon. Dennis was a NASCAR fan, a bird lover, an avid photographer, and enjoyed living in the Smokey Mountains. He loved anything Chevrolet and especially loved driving his 2013 Camaro.

Dennis is survived by his son, James Patrick Harmon, wife Sarah, and grandchildren Alden and Addison, of Secor, Illinois; sister, Linda Michels and husband Dennis, of Olney, Illinois; sister, Kim Kocher and husband Chester of Olney, Illinois; special friend, Cynthia Proietty of Fyffe, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents James and Dorothy and second wife Laurie, and his dog, Sadie.

A memorial service for Dennis will be held at Kistler Patterson Funeral Home in Olney at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 with a visitation for family and friends beginning one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at a later date at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.
