Candice Borchers (Baltzell)

Candice L. Baltzell, 58, of McCook, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, following a brief illness.

She was born on April 6, 1947 in Kankakee, Ill., the daughter of Orville and Eve (Elliott) Borchers. She was a 1965 graduate of East Richland High School in Olney, Ill., and attended Olney Central College. She graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 1967 and then completed dental assisting courses in Chicago. She married Dr. Robert Baltzell on Dec. 27, 1967 in Charles City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2004.

Mrs. Baltzell was a chairside assistant in her husband's dental practice for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling and gardening and was an avid antique collector. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in McCook. She was a member of the Chapter GY P.E.O. and the Good Earth Gardeners. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and was devoted to her schnauzer, Hansie. Candy had a wonderful sense of humor and a great zest for life.

Candice was preceded in death by her husband, father, and grandparents.

She is survived by her mother, Eve Garden of Charles City, Iowa; brother, Max Brewer and his wife, Donna of Naples, Fla.; nephew, Mark Brewer and his wife Barb of Monticello, Ind.; niece, Beth Anne Zirkle of Gilman, Ill.; mother-in-law, Virginia Baltzell of Leesburg, Fla.; one great-niece; four great-nephews; and many cousins, stepbrothers, and stepsisters.
