Crash Kills Dundas Man, Sister-in-Law

A Dundas man and his 51/2 year-old sister-in-law were killed at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 1972 when the motorcycle they were riding was struck from behind by a car driven by Harold L. Ochs, 22 of West Liberty.

Ochs has been charged with reckless homicide in the death of Dennis L. Grove, 24 and Sheryl Jean Ridgely. The accident occurred on the Dundas-Wendelin blacktop about a mile west of Illinois 130. Ochs was uninjured, according to District 12 State Police, who investigated the accident.

Miss Ridgely is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Ridgely of Parkersburg. She leaves her parents, a brother, Jan Douglas Ridgely and three sisters, Mrs. Dennis (Jane) Grove, Mrs. Kent (Lee Ann) Warren and Terry Lynn Ridgely.

Dennis Lee Grove, 24 of Dundas, was killed in an accident west of Dundas Wednesday evening, August 9, 1972.  Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery at Parkersburg.

Dennis was born October 1, 1947, son of Vernon and Pauline Miller Grove.  He married Monica Jane Ridgely March 20, 1968.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 30, the Dundas Sportsman's Club and National Rifle Association, and attended Mt. Gilead Cong. Christian Church.  He was Republican Precinct Committeeman in Preston Township.

Surviving are his wife, Jane; an infant son, Brian Lee, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon R. Grove of Dundas; a brother, Tom Grove at home; and grandparents, Mrs. Ollie Grove of Dundas and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Miller of Olney.
