Subject Trapped

A report was made Wednesday of a subject trapped under a backhoe in the 3000 block of Mt. Gilead Lane west of the Mt. Gilead Church.

A third-party caller said the subject was not conscious and breathing status was unknown. Olney Fire Department assisted ambulance personnel at the scene.

Donald R. Snider, 56, of rural Olney, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest is pending, according to County Coroner, Randy Kistler

Don R. Snider, 56, of Olney, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday August 28, 2002 at his residence.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Gary Ryden officiating. Burial in Dundas Cemetery.

Mr. Snider was born on January 6, 1946 in Richland County, the son of Car and June (Jennings) Snider. He married Pat Beucherie on December 7, 1968. She survives.

He was a self-employed farmer and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney. He was a member of FFA Alumni, Eagles, Knights of Columbus and Southeastern Illinois Beagle Club. He served in the Illinois National Guard.

Mr. Snider is survived by his wife, Patricia Snider of Olney; his father and step-mother, Carl and Mildred Snider of Olney; two daughters, Lisa Berry and her husband, Nathan of Olney and Amy Mann and her husband, Justan of Taylorville; two brothers, John Snider and his wife, Elaine of Olney, and Frank Snider and his wife Marge of Dundas and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
