Miss Phyllis Ann Hope, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace C. Hope, 407 N. Walnut St., was fatally injured at about 11 o'clock Saturday night October 4, 1964 in a car-truck accident one mile east of Olney at the barricade of the new U.S. Route 50.

She was a passenger in a car headed west, which was stopped at the stop sign where the new highway crosses the present U.S. 50. A loaded semi-truck rammed the car from behind.

She and the three others in the car were rushed to Richland Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Miss Hope passed away at the hospital from injuries sustained in the wreck.

Her father is manager of the General Telephone Company Revenue Accounting Office in Olney.

Two other passengers in the car remain patients at the hospital today. They are Miss Nancy Golly, 15 of Olney and Daniel Holtz of Olney. Both are in satisfactory condition today.

The driver of the car, Arol Whitaker, 20, of Olney was treated in the hospital emergency room and released. The driver of the truck, Marvin Isringhausen, 54 of Jerseyville was not injured. He was ticketed by a state trooper for reckless driving.

Besides her parents, Wallace and Marjorie, Phyllis is survived by two sisters, Vivian Marie and Susan Ellen, both living at home and her grandmothers Mrs. Marie Hope of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Mrs. Mabel West of Bloomington, Ill.

A sister, Ruth Lee passed away November 2, 1961.
