Melinda Anne Barber left this life on January 5, 2023 in Tubac, Arizona. She was born January 10, 1947 in Redding, California to Bill and Jean Gaffner Barber. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Barber, her mother and stepfather Jean and Jack Raymond and a sister Beverly. She is survived by her husband Dr Tom Ritchie and beloved dogs Bodhi and Brio. Melinda was an accomplished artist and designer, having large abstract paintings displayed in major buildings in Chicago. She also loved designing and overseeing the construction and architectural design of her homes, one being featured on HGTV. She will always be remembered and loved by her classmates and friends.
Kathryn Sue VanCleve (Burkhart) (1964)
Friends from 4th grade on. Although we lost contact after High School we reconnected later in life, like we'd never been apart. Loved you Mel!
Jim Pass Jr (1964)
Prayers for her families. She definitely had an artistic "style," as evidenced in the design, construction, and outfitting of her home. She is missed. JP
Paula Sue Yount (1964)
You could almost say Melinda and I had known each other since pre-school. Our parents were friends
And we visited them in Los Angeles. Then, she moved to Olney and the rest is history. Unfortunately,
we lost track for many years and hooked up just a few years before her death. In that short period of
time we made up for those last years, sharing our love of interior design, art, travels. We definitely made
up for lost time in our daily long emails going over our lives. She was divine, and I miss her so much.
