Joy Mason

Joy L. Mason, of Noble, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Lodge in Mattoon.  Burial in Noble Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Mason was born April 24, 1933, in Richland County, the son of Sion and Lillie (Hoffee) Mason. He married Mary L. Muhs on May 18, 1957. She survives.

He was a retired petroleum engineer who worked in the oilfield. He served in the Army from 1953-1955 and was in the Army Reserve for six years. He was a life member of American Legion.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Mary Mason, of Noble; daughters, Shelby Weidner and her husband, Dale J., of Noble, Sherri Luciano and her husband, Pascal, of Crestwood, Susan Berardi and her husband, Alan, of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Scott Mason and his wife, Deneen, of Elgin; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nellie Mason, of Olney, and Pat Paul, of Olney; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lynch, of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sion and Lillie Mason; eight brothers, Arch, Culver, Merle, Albert, Charles "Dode," Walker, Eugene, and Leo Paul; sister, Laverne Lynch; and one grandson.
