Jack R. Hixon, 68, of Flat Rock, died Wednesday January 28, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.  Funeral services at Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock with Pastor Skip Thomas officiating. Burial in Jones Cemetery in rural Flat Rock.

Mr. Hixon was born on December 30, 1935 in Claremont Township in Richland County, the son of Charles and Cora Atkins Hixon. He married Mary Case in 1958. She preceded him in death in 1971. He later married Linda Waldrop on March 11, 1983. She survives.

He was retired from Texaco Refining Co. after 25 years of service. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Airborne and was a member of Flat Rock American Legion.

Mr. Hixon is survived by his wife, Linda Hixon of Flat Rock; a son, William Charles Hixon of Claremont; a step-daughter, Carmen Walton and her husband, Frank of Flat Rock; a step-son, Jeffrey Weger and his wife, Susan of Highlands, Texas; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Leona Lucas and Luke of Mattoon; and four brothers, Marion and his wife, Marie of Sumner, Joe Hixon and his wife, Willie of Lima, Ohio, Roy Hixon and his wife, Pauline of Claremont, Ray Hixon and his wife, Barbara of Claremont and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary and his brother, Charles Hixon.
