Virgil Lee Hillyard, 79, Arlington, Tennessee, went home to heaven on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 after losing his battle with cancer.   Services at First Assembly of God Church on Walnut Grove Road.  Interment in Forest Hill East Cemetery in Memphis.

Virgil was born in Illinois,  March 29, 1934 son of Robert W. and Martha K. Brockett Hillyard.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Billie Faye Hillyard; five children, Randy Hillyard (Bobbie Jo), Tina Hawkins (Al), Danny Hillyard, Mike Hillyard, and Tiffany Lehmann (Jeremy); two sisters, Margaret Suddard and Kathryn Moss (Dr. William Moss), all of the Memphis area. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He retired as a Battalion Commander with the Memphis Fire Department after 35 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Godly Man who served his Lord for many years as a faithful member at First Assembly of God Church.
