Norman "Sonny" Runyon, 83, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at his residence. Sonny was born December 5, 1938 in Olney, Illinois, the son of George and Erma Linda (Rennier) Runyon. He married Mary Hubble on October 31, 1964 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary preceded him in death on August 16, 2019.

Sonny owned Runyon Builders for many years. He was a very skilled home builder and was an excellent carpenter. Sonny served in the US Army from 1958-1961. Sonny enjoyed fishing, especially river fishing for catfish. He took pleasure in spending time at his camp in Russellville. Sonny had many talents and hobbies including making pottery for his family and friends. Sonny's sense of humor and love of life will be missed by all those that knew him.

Sonny is survived by his son, Douglas Runyon and wife Kari of Olney; grandchildren, Wesley (Kristi Smith) Runyon, Krystal (Tony Beard) Haney, Dalton (Julia Camarillo) Runyon, and Jacob (Kierstin Fulton) Runyon; great grandchildren, Dillion (Ariana Smith) Haney, Karlee Haney, and Landon Runyon; great great grandchildren, Navy Foil-Runyon and Luka Haney; brothers, Ed Runyon and George "Pud" Runyon and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Runyon, daughter, Stephanie Jo Runyon; brothers, Kenny Runyon and Frank Runyon; and sisters, Maryanne Heindselman, Norma Jean Lane, and Karen Louise Runyon.

A memorial service for Sonny will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior service time.

Internment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney. Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside. Memorials can be made to Carle Center for Philanthropy or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
