Myrline Holtz (Bower)

Myrline Kay Bower, 75, of Olney, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Memorial services at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney with Minister Andrew Liston officiating.  Cremation rites were accorded with interment of cremains in Haven Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Ms. Bower was born April 13, 1939, in Olney, the daughter of Myrl and Helen (VanMatre) Holtz.

Myrline was a member of Elm Street Christian Church and had worked at the pharmacy at the drugstore and at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, having lunch with friends, and attending church. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her three sons on her own as a single mother.

Myrline is survived by sons, Scott Bower and wife Mandie, of Olney, Brent Bower and wife Brenda, of Carlyle, and John Bower and wife Melissa, of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Brooke, Brittany, Trevor, Ethan, Christopher, Lauren, Emma, Noah, Levi, Joshua, Helen, Evelyn, and Andrew Bower; stepgrandchildren, Daniel and Sarah; close cousin, Jim Elliott, of Bedford, Indiana; uncle, Frank VanMatre and wife Pat; aunt, Louise Turpin and husband Jim; and uncle, John Shafer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Nan Shafer, and Uncle Joe VanMatre.
