Roy Ronald Doan

Roy Ronald Doan Jr., 84 passed away Dec. 9, 2023, in Los Angeles, California.

He was born to Roy Ronald Doan Sr and Bertha Emma (Schepper) Doan on Oct. 26, 1939. He had one sibling, his brother, John Amos Doan.

Roy graduated from High School in Olney, Illinois, then attended trade school in Chicago. He met and married Linda Kay Weston in Olney.

He built the family’s first television which still sits on a shelf in the original farmhouse on the Doan farm in Olney.

Roy went to work for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in Saint Louis, Missouri, in the early 1960s then moved to Los Angeles in 1971. He went to work for Northrop Grumman Aerospace and re-married Marilyn Claire Sibrava Confer in 1978. He retired from Northrop Grumman in late 1999.

Roy always had a security clearance and never discussed his work, but among his accomplishments was working on the original F-18 Hornet, the F-20 Tigershark and the B-2 Stealth Spirit Bomber, although he always denied any knowledge of stealth technology.

He was a very honest man who never strayed far from his smalltown upbringing and dedicated his life to doing his part to help keep America safe.
