Maxine A. Smith, 71, of Olney died Sunday June 15, 2008 at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.  Cremation rites were accorded. Private interment of ashes at Crest Haven Cemetery east of Olney.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 30, 1936 in Olney the daughter of George L. and Maxine LaVerne (Thomann) Nuding. She married Paul R. Smith on September 19, 1954. She worked as a secretary at Immanuel United Methodist Church for 23 years and at St. Paul United Methodist Church for 10 years.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Smith of Olney; daughter, Cindy Roach and her husband, Martin of Smithboro; son, Duane R. Smith and his wife, Cynthia of Chatham; son, Reverend Paul Randall Smith of Canton, Mo.; brother, Michael Allen Nuding and his wife, Tammy of Oakley; sister, Mary Alice Rogers and her husband, Gary of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
