Sally Ann Cowgill, 53, of Gibson City died Monday (Oct. 7, 1996) at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Burial in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Cowgill; one son, Todd Cowgill, Milwaukee, Wis.; one daughter, Kristin Osman, Champaign; her parents, Thomas L. and Beulah E. Diver, Olney; and one brother, Thomas L. Diver Jr., Winchester, Mo.

She was born Feb. 22, 1943, at Little Rock, Ark., a daughter of Thomas L. and Beulah E. Lanker Diver. She married Jack Cowgill Aug. 20, 1966, at Olney.

Mrs. Cowgill received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Illinois State University in 1965. She had been a first-grade teacher at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school for more than 20 years and had lived in Gibson City since 1973. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; Illinois Education Association; National Education Association; and GCMS Education Society.
