Harold Cain

Harold K. "Sonny" Cain, age 65, of Alhambra, Illinois died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at his residence in Alhambra. He was born on February 19, 1943, in New Harmony, Ind., the son of Howard K. and Bonnie M. Wilson Cain in Highland. He married Anita Kay Johnson on Sept. 24, 1963, in Olney. She survives.

Along with his parents and his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Melanie K., and husband JimTillerson of Edwardsville; four grandchildren; Angelique "Angel" Tillerson, Jordan James Tillerson, Michaela MaeLouise Tillerson, and Amaya Kaylene Tillerson; a brother, Jim Cain and wife Barbara of Stanton, Mich.; a sister, Carolyn Sue "Sis" Cain of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was born in Indiana, attended Crossville High School, and graduated from East Richland High School in Olney. He attended SIU-Carbondale, and after his marriage they lived in Weldon Springs, Mo. He was employed at McDonnell-Douglas.

The couple moved to Alhambra in 1969, and Sonny worked as an EMT with the Alhambra-Hamel Ambulance Service. He became a Madison County Sheriff Deputy in June of 1977 and worked for 21 years retiring in 1998.

Sonny loved his job with the county, and was a member of PB and PA of Illinois. He was also a Boy Scout Leader, Little League Coach, enjoyed spending time on his computer, reading, hunting mushrooms, traveling each summer out West to Colorado, and Stanley, Idaho. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

Funeral services at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra. Interment at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
