Christian Albert Gertsch IV, 77 of Olney, passed away at 3:15 AM on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his residence in Olney.  Christian was born on September 21, 1944, in Sheffield, England, the son of Christian Albert and Elsie (Brotherton) Gertsch III. He later married Donna May Wingerter on March 16, 1968 in Martinton, IL. She survives.

He was in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a MP Dog Handler. He worked for 41 years at Hinckel Chemical Plant. He was a member of the Olney VFW and Olney American Legion. He enjoyed visiting with his old buddies and going fishing and hunting.

Christian is survived by his wife, Donna Gertsch of Olney; son, Christian Gertsch V (Penny) of Greenbrier, TN; 2 daughters, Marie Gertsch of Beaverville, IL and Darlene Perzee (Chuck) of Donovan, IL; 7 grandchildren, Andrew, Kendra, Trent, Bryce, Clint, Carley, and Gabe; 9 brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Christian and Elsie Gertsch; and twin infant girls Kathleen and Sherry Gertsch.

Memorials can be sent to the Olney VFW in memory of Christian Albert Gertsch IV.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney.
