Olney Woman Dies After Car Slides Out Of Control

A 19-year-old Olney woman was killed about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when her car slid out of control and was struck in the passenger side by a pickup truck on Illinois 50 about ½ mile east of Clay City.

Dead at the scene was Jacqueline R. Kermicle, who was driving a Geo Metro, said Gary W. Bright, Clay County Coroner. She was alone in her car.

Kermicle was westbound on the highway when the accident occurred, Bright said. The eastbound Ford pickup was driven by Allen Tolliver of Louisville. He was not injured.

“Why her car slid we’re not certain,” Bright said. “The road was very slick and it was snowing at the time.”

Jacqueline Renee "Jacque" Kermicle, 19 of Olney died Sunday, January 26, 1997 near Clay City in an accident.  Burial in Crest Haven Cemetery in rural Claremont.

Kermicle was born May 31, 1977 in Olney, the daughter of Ronald E. and Bonnie L. (Dean) Kermicle.

She was a sophomore at Olney Central College was employed at McDonald's in Olney and was a member of the OCC band and South Muddy Baptist Church.

She is survived by her parents of Olney; one brother, one sister, Laura at home; grandparents, Edith Kermicle of Olney and Wilson and Wilma Dean of Olney; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
