David Eugene Lovelace

David Eugene "Gene" Lovelace, 63, of Clermont, Ind., formerly of Olney, lost his long battle with cancer on Friday, July 29, 2005.  Cremation rites were accorded.

Gene was born on December 24, 1941, to Harold Truman "Jelly" Lovelace and Mary F. "Pan" Hawkins.

Gene lived most of his youth in Olney and attended schools in the Olney area. He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., with a degree in mathematics. He was the oldest of four children.

He was married for 14 years to Janet Fern Seiler.

He had worked for Krannert Institute of Cardiology and Qualitech Steel. He was published in several medical journals for his contributions to medicine and was an active member of the Iron and Steel Society. Gene was most happy with a fishing pole and a can of worms sitting on the bank.

He was preceded in death by Harold T. "Jelly" Lovelace, Howard A. "Sadie" Hawkins, Judy Bass and Janet Lovelace.

He is survived by his mother, Pan Hawkins; a daughter, Kim Lovelace; a sister, Jeni Kessler; a brother, Whit Hawkins and nieces and nephews.
